Garden Futures: Designing with Nature

On now until 25 January 2026

Included in The Times "Seven of the UK’s best
museum and gallery exhibitions for 2025"

Unearth the extraordinary, everyday world of garden design

Step into a vibrant celebration of gardens and discover how these green spaces shape our lives in ways both familiar and unexpected. From the clothes we wear to the food we grow and the communities we nurture, gardens are rooted in our daily experiences.

Through surprising stories from around the world, explore how designers and artists reimagine gardens, not just as places of beauty, but as powerful spaces of creativity, care and connection with nature.

From allotments and deserts, rainforests and more, see how gardening can offer sanctuary, spark resilience, and provide vital resources. In times of conflict and climate crisis, gardens have also become acts of resistance – symbols of hope, healing and renewal.

The exhibition features a mix of garden designs, films, paintings, fashion, photography, and even videogames, each offering a fresh perspective on how we connect with nature. From the visionary work of William Morris to playful digital landscapes, the exhibition showcases creative responses to the challenges of our time, including inspiring ideas for more sustainable and resilient futures.

Garden Futures invites you to dig deeper into the past, present and future of garden design, and to reflect on how these spaces continue to grow in a changing world.
