In Conversation with Sami Tamimi and Julie Lin
Saturday 27 September
Hear from two globally renowned chefs on gardens, identity, and the power of food
Following his takeover of Tatha Bar & Kitchen, Palestinian-British chef Sami Tamimi joins us for an exclusive in-conversation with Malaysian-Scottish chef Julie Lin. In connection with our exhibitions Garden Futures and Thread Memory, we’ll hear how heritage, identity and place can shape our relationship to food and community.
Sami Tamimi is a renowned chef, co-founder of the Ottolenghi restaurants and co-author of the best-selling and award-winning cookbooks Falastin, Jerusalem and Ottolenghi: The Cookbook. His first solo cookbook, Boustany: A Celebration of Vegetables from My Palestine, is a vibrant journey through Palestinian culinary traditions, centred around colourful vegetables and grains.
Julie Lin is a chef, writer, TV presenter and restaurateur behind the Michelin-recommended GaGa in Glasgow. Her first cookbook, Sama Sama, explores her Malaysian and Scottish dual identity, showing that food has the power to heal and unite people through dishes prepared from the soul.
Following the In Conversation event, there will be book signings with the guests. Copies of Boustany and Sama Sama will be available to purchase on the day from the V&A Dundee shop.
This event is non-profit, with all proceeds ensuring that contributors are paid fairly.
