This policy sets out V&A Dundee’s duty of care and procedures for safeguarding
Our Commitment
V&A Dundee is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all, as part of our mission to enrich lives through design and promote the public’s enjoyment and understanding of art, craft and design. Protecting people or ‘safeguarding’, is everyone’s responsibility.
Purpose
To ensure that any safeguarding concerns are taken seriously, addressed appropriately, and referred to the right authorities where necessary.
What is a Safeguarding Concern?
A safeguarding concern may include:
A person is or may be at risk of harm, abuse, neglect, or exploitation
A person is at risk of being radicalised
A person has harmed another person
A person’s behaviour presents a serious issue (e.g., criminal offence, serious property damage, or significant reputational risk to the Museum)
How to Raise a Concern
Call 999 if someone is in immediate danger
Complete a Reporting Form: Raising a Concern Form or email safeguarding@vandadundee.org
Speak with a Protecting People Officer (Duty Managers) if unsure
Next Steps
The Protecting People Advisory Group (PPAG) will review all concerns and decide next steps, which may include:
No further action
Offering support or informal resolution
Referring to Dundee Social Work, Dundee Protects, or Police Scotland

Confidentiality and Data Protection
Information will be handled in line with GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The welfare of the individual at risk always takes priority.
Review
This policy is effective from September 2025 and will be reviewed annually.
